Short list announced for the 2011 Young Rider Europeans

British Eventing’s Young Rider selectors have now selected the twelve riders to represent Britain at this year’s Young Rider European Championships.

This year, the British Young Rider squad will be defending their sixth successive team gold medal* on home turf at Blair Castle Horse Trials (Perthshire, 18-21 August 2011).     The squad of twelve in alphabetical order is:   Giles Blanchard – Jeopardy (rider’s own) Rebecca Crosbie-Starling – Clifton Clicquot (rider’s own) Laura Cocking – Arkendale (rider’s own) Daniella Dunn – What a Catch (owned by Lady Madeleine Lloyd Webber and rider) Harry Dzenis – Rockin Robin (rider’s own) Mary Edmundson – Sonny Early (Mrs Debbie Edmundson and Mrs Jenny Ellins) Dani Evans – Uchin (Mrs Heather Sheppard) Sophie Jenman – Geronimo (rider’s own) Tom McEwen – Private Rudolf (Miss Leela L Patel & David Hamilton) Willa Newton – Neelix (Mr Joey Newton) Wills Oakden – Button Clover (owned by Mrs Cindy Onslow) Gina Ruck – Viper Priba (rider’s own)   The reserves: Sam Lees – Heads your Gray (rider’s own) Hector Payne – Jolly Jake (Mr Michael Payne)   *In 2010 Britain drew with Germany and therefore shared team gold.
