NFL, Players Association to Reach Deal July 21st
Now just over four months into the NFL lockout, the NFL and NFL Players Association are expected to reach agreement by Thursday, July 21st during their league meetings in Atlanta. Sources have assured that all preseason games will be played if the deal is ratified by that time. The two sides have compromised immensely thus far on major issues and are confident that a new CBA will be completed in the near future.
The biggest dispute that remains is rookie wage scales for the league’s most recent draft picks. Were at the 10-, maybe the 15-yard line, and were marching down the field, one involved source confirmed this weekend. Both sides want to score and I think we will. Under the NFLs proposal, the top picks contract value would go from $78 million over six years to $34 million over five years with the ability to renegotiate after three years.
