Mobile hosts Olympic Team boxing trials

MOBILE, Alabama (WALA) – Boxing fans will get to watch U.S. Olympic hopefuls fight their way to the world championships. Tickets went on sale Thursday.

The U.S. Olympic Team Trials is one of the summer’s biggest events at the Mobile Civic Center. The 2011 Junior Boxing National Championships will also be held July 31 to August 6.

During the competition, you will be able to watch three competitions simultaneously inside three boxing rings. The tournament will be double elimination with eight boxers in each of the ten men’s Olympic weight divisions.

The top boxers will move on to the 2011 World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan in September. There they will try to qualify internationally for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

There are multiple ticket options for the U.S. Olympic Team Trials. You can purchase single day passes or a package with admission to all six days.
