A less than thrilled Jesse Litsch is heading back to Las Vegas.

The Toronto Blue Jays have optioned the right-handed pitcher to the AAA 51s, despite his tidy six-inning, 90-pitch performance on Friday night in a 5-3 loss to Tucson in which Litsch blanked the Padres and allowed just hits with seven strikeouts.

“It sucks but I have to go with the punches and hopefully get back up there [to Toronto] sometime,” Litsch posted on his Twitter account Sunday.

Litsch, 26, hasn’t pitched in the majors since May 18 due to an inpingement in his right shoulder.

“Solid outing … a lot of strikes,” Blue Jays manager John Farrell said of Litsch’s effort on Friday in which 55 of his 90 pitches went for strikes. “His cutter was what we’ve seen. His velocity and fastball were consistent. No health issues, so a very good step for him.”

He has a 4-3 record and a 4.66 earned-run average over eight starts this season with the Blue Jays, having struck out 36 batters and walked 18 in 46 1/3 innings pitched.

Litsch has made seven starts at three different levels in the minor leagues this season, going 0-2 with a 6.59 ERA.

The six-foot-one, 225-pound native of Pinellas Park, Fla., is in his fifth season with the Blue Jays, and has a career record of 25-27 with a 4.16 ERA.
